I am just recovering from the awesome twitter party on Tuesday. The #WaveForChange party was a huge success. I was able to see first hand what the power of education has over our Latina community and I must say that all of you inspired so much in me. I am very proud be a part of this community. During that hour and a half, I heard of dreams and realities of what an education got you. One of the questions that was asked was Did you study what you dreamed about as a child? Why or why not? I love this question.
Growing up in my home, education was not as important. It was mandatory, but I never got pushed or encouraged to go to college. I was forced to attend a trade school only because my sister went there. Sad, I know. Going back to the question, my dreams, when I was younger, were to become a nurse, a police officer or a flight attendant. My mom immediately shoved my heart condition in my face so that I could kill my pursuit of becoming a cop. The rest, well… life had something else in store.
I am the total opposite when raising my kids and encouraging them to excel in school and for them to reach their goals. Whatever they wish to be. I will provide the wings for them to fly. Check out my video:
As long time followers of my blog, you know that I am a huge fan of Neutrogena. Neutrogena’s Wave for Change campaign is helping rebuild the lives of thousands of kids in need. For each participating Neutrogena product purchased between July 1st – August 31st, the brand will donate one dollar to GlobalGiving charities, with the aim to reach a $250,000 donation goal.
This back-to-school season, NEUTROGENA Wave for Change will be supporting three educational charities here in the US:
- Education Through Music
- Para Los Niños.
Neutrogena kicked-off Wave for Change with a $100,000 donation. This is where you come in… for each online activation of each purchase of eligible products, Neutrogena will donate a maximum of $20,000! Plus, for each eligible video view, the brand will donate a maximum of $130,000. Here is how you can help:
