3 Fab Reasons Why You Need the Samsung Galaxy S5

A couple of weeks ago, Verizon Wireless sent me Samsung Galaxy S5 to test out and have a little fun with it.  I’ve seen the Samsung before and a lot of my family members have (one generation or another) Samsung phones. It’s caught my eye on a few occasions. Which is good, right? It’s big, bold, vibrant in color and all around a fabulous smartphone to own.

3 Fab Reasons Why You Need the Samsung Galaxy S5 - FamilyisFamilia.com

Some specifics, first:

  • 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED® display
  • 16-megapixel camera
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM
  • Battery life: 3G: Up to 11 Hours; 4G: Up to 12 Hours; Wi-Fi: Up to 13 Hours

So, why would you need this phone?  Here are my top three reasons:

1. Does it take amazing photos? AMAZING doesn’t give it justice. I love how big the display screen is and how clear the images come out.  I am a huge picture-taker and when it comes to covering events, I can easily take up to 100 photos. Even more so if the kids are with me.  Even the built in photo filters that will make your images look great. If you’re searching for the perfect smartphone with an amazing camera, a 16-megapixel camera, this device is for you!

2. Is it fast? Oh yeah. Whether it’s the fantastic coverage from Verizon Wireless in my area or the actually smartphone itself, but the speed of the phone and how fast the pages loaded, the apps downloaded and how it was just…. awesome magic at your fingertips, was off the charts!

3. How are the apps? This is what I was most interested in. The apps. Are they the same as the other phones? Are they better? Worse? Honestly, they are same. My kids were the ones downloading the games they had already been playing with and went bananas at how cool it was to be playing with a phone that is bigger and brighter/clearer than the phones they are using now. I went searching for all the apps that I currently have on my personal phone and found all of them, except for one. There’s even features with the phone that allow you to track your fitness levels down to your heartbeat. Oh, and it also lets you secure the phone with your fingerprint.  Which is pretty good, right?

My humble opinion…

My husband, son and I have been iPhone users for years. We haven’t upgraded in years, because just like the rest of the world, we’re waiting for the next big thing to happen. We were content with our phones until the Samsung Galaxy S5 entered our lives. We loved the phone, we really did. My husband and son no longer want to wait for the next big thing. They are ready to make the switch and I will oblige! I will get them the phone. One issue I did have with the phone is that it’s BIG! As in, it almost didn’t fit into my back pocket big. I’m sure it’s something that one has to get used to, and if that’s what it takes for having an exceptional phone, then it’s something that we’ll deal with. As for me, I will wait a little longer since so much rides on my current phone because of blogging. But if the next big thing turns out to be a flop, we will make the change. How’s that for great service?
