Get Burrito’d at Farrell’s for Cinco de Mayo

Farrell’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlours is celebrating Cinco De Mayo with a fun promotion called “Would You Like That Burrito’d?” From May 1 through May 15 almost anything on the Farrell’s menu can be burrito’d. Yes, you read that right, burrito’d.

Growing up Latina, I’ve become accustomed to your typical Mexican cuisine that is wrapped up in a tortilla. We have burritos about once a week, but never have I had a meal “burrito’d” in the sense that food that I’d typically eat with a fork, can now (for a limited time) be served to me in a scrumptious burrito.

If you need help with the whole burrito process, Farrell’s will provide you with a handout that explains the promotion and makes recommendations of food items that you can have burrito’d, they say they will burrito just about anything on their menu, and well, that may be true, there are some items they recommend not burrito’ing include fried pickle appetizers, pizzas, or any soup (for obvious reasons). They do recommend burrito’ing any of their burgers or salads and many of their sandwiches and appetizers. And guess what? We did just that…

At our recent trip to Farrell’s, we knew we were in for a treat when we sat and looked at the menu of recommended item to be burrito’d. We selected the

  • Burrito’d Buffalo Mac ‘n’ Cheese…Cavatappi pasta, grilled chicken, spicy buffalo cheese sauce, bleu cheese, onion strings, green onions and ranch.

  • Burrito’d Chili Waffle Fries… Waffle fries, Farrell’s stewpot chili, cheddar cheese and scallions…..ALL IN A TORTILLA!

Honestly, selecting what we wanted was easy. We were in the mood to eat some good food, and well… after all, this is Farrell’s, right? All calorie-counting is left at the door. We wanted to have a good time and so the next step was to just dig in and EAT!  What I liked about getting some menu items burrito’d is the easiness of eating the food times. The Mac-n-Cheese was a perfect fit for the burrito. I wouldn’t mind ordering it and eating it for lunch as take-out. I liked it a lot.

Goodness….

As usual, all the food was great, the service was WONDERFUL. We had a great time eating our burritos. And then came dessert.

I’m a fan of dessert. I mean, who isn’t right? Well, here we were offered the Straw-Ana sundae, which is a strawberry and vanilla ice cream, banana and strawberries, all topped with pure whipped cream, and a cherry. Check out the fun video…

The sundae is freaking amazing. I’m telling you, there is nothing in the world like a Farrell’s sundae, but burrito’d? I love the idea, but the tortilla was too bland for the richness of the ice cream. Now, if it were deep fried, and rolled in cinnamon and sugar, well… then.. now, were talking! See, this proves that not everything on the menu will work as being a burrito.

Seriously. They had to roll us out of the restaurant.

You can get just about anything burrito’d from May 1 through May 15. Check out Farrell’s website for more info. Also check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

This is not a paid post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was invited to try out the items listed above to facilitate this review.
