If you thought the magic of Disney is solely contained to the parks or movies, I want to introduce you to Disney Infinity.
Disney Interactive is the gaming side to Disney. We’ve all seen the Disney games available at stores or in the App store. My kids have their own impressive collection of Disney video games and I have my own personal favorite, Where’s my water?
Yesterday, Disney Interactive announced the brand new gaming platform that has literally taken the gaming community by storm. Introducing- Disney Infinity.
Disney Infinity allows you to take gaming to a whole new level with your beloved Disney character. You get to take control of your own worlds, characters and more importantly, your imagination gets to run wild!
There will be all sorts of characters available for you to buy and and play with. These “play sets” will take after some of Disney and Disney Pixar’s famous movies. The first three of the character figures made a debut yesterday. Take a look at Sully from Monster’s Inc., Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles.
The Disney Infinity Platform includes:
- Disney Infinity Interactive Pieces – Initially a line of 40 collectible interactive pieces will be introduced that allow players to expand and customize their play experiences.
- Disney Infinity Interactive Character Figures – Seventeen character figures will allow players to experience a variety of their favorite characters in true to property experiences and in “Toy Box” mode.
- Disney Infinity Base – When figures are placed on the Infinity base, they unlock the world and play experiences of Disney Infinity.
- Disney Infinity Power Discs – Interactive discs can be placed on the Infinity base to power up characters and “Toy Box” with unique powers, customizations and gadgets.
As we sat through the announcement yesterday at the El Capitan Theater, I was simply in awe at what Disney Interactive has developed. John Lasseter was there for the announcement and he spoke about the creativity behind this program. He said this idea started as he and the Pixar team were working on Toy Story 3. How appropriate!
Listening to him speak about the basics of the program, the creativity aspects of the game just radiated from John. I absolutely adore hearing him talk. This was the second time I’ve been in the audience to hear Mr. Lasseter speak. I will never get tired of hearing him talk about creative play. Or anything for that matter!
I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming months. Dinsey Infinity is set to debut in June of this year.
