The Mamihood

What about Mommy?

I’ve hit a point in motherhood in which I’m not being called mommy anymore. I’m mom. Mom this and Mom that. The only time I get called mommy is when, YUP, you guessed right, only when they want something.

Was I prepared for this? Well, I knew it was coming. So, I was sort of prepared.

Do I miss it? Yes. Yes, I do.

Want to know something? I make my teen call me mommy when he want’s me to do something. Same with the little ones. I miss it, but should I make them say it to me?

Which brings me to this blog.

I am known as a mommy. I’ve been a mommy for over 14 years. It’s all I’ve known. Is it time to let go of this name, too?

I’m still a mom.  I still have young kids, but there something about the name “mommy” in the title that  is starting to bother me now. I’ve been doing a little soul searching and trying to find the blogger in me that has lost a little of that blog passion.  I still attend a few events here and there and I still love bringing you the latest in product reviews, but I feel that there is so much more than all that.  And I know you are too.  I see how you don’t come around here anymore.  I see that you don’t even stick around long enough for me to try to engage with you… I’ve lost you.  Yes, you!  My readers.

I’ve lost me too.

I’ve been writing for several on-line sources and I am really enjoying that. I love posting about Disney.  I’m getting used to writing about happenings, here in Orange County. There has to be more about me, than just Mommy Blogger.  Would it be alright with you if I drop the my in mommy?  I can be Thoughts of a Mom. Que no?

I’m not into fashion, so a fashion blogger is out of a question.  There are already wonderful Latina food bloggers.  I don’t have pets. I am not political. I’m just…

Meh.

Is it possible to be just… meh?  I need your help. Please.
