Early Lingo: An Playful Approach to Learning a Second Language {Giveaway}

Giveaway closed: Winner is Laurie!

I’ve always been a fan of bilingualism.  Are my kids bilingual or trilingual, for that matter? No, they’re not. Sadly, I’ve spoken about my failure of not teaching the kids Spanish or Tagalog.  This is why I truly admire Cynthia’s post about teaching her daughter Spanish.  The kids know a few words, here and there, but they are no where near being bilingual.

If you are starting your own quest to teach your children to be bilingual, whether it be Spanish, French or Mandarin, starting early is key.

Early Lingo DVDs

Early Lingo,  the first-of-its-kind DVD series designed to teach children the basic foundations of foreign language learning through total immersion and age-appropriate adventure.

Available in a variety of languages, the DVDs are designed to empower infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to master language acquisition through:

  • Original characters
  • Lively animation
  • Live footage
  • Catchy music
  • Vivid colors
  • Action and word-specific.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the Spanish edition. We met Jojo and Lulu, a monkey and a bird, as they are the main characters in each video. The ages for this video is 6 months and older.  My 6yo daughter was more receptive to the video than my 8yo son. Still, they sat through the video and praised themselves for the words they already knew.  The DVD plays simple words that can easily be repeated by your child. The objects are called by name and then used in a very easy sentence.

Each DVD retails at $19.99 and the 6-DVD box set retails at $99.99. Take a look at this sample video:

    my husband and i both know french, so we’re teaching our 20-month-old french. she doesn’t seem to understand a word yet, because when i ask in french if she would like cake, she says yes, and then runs to her bookshelf to bring me a french book to read. 🙂 at least she knows the sounds are different than english, i suppose!
