As a mom, having the kids around is both fun and satisfying. It can also be a pain in the butt! These past few weeks, during the winter break, all three kids were sick and I was alone. Alone in the sense that my husband was working. A lot! Since before Thanksgiving, he’s been working non-stop and I’ve missed him so.
We are a family of habit. We rarely break out of the routine, so when my husband stared to work on Sundays, our typical “church” day was thrown off course. We couldn’t even go to church on Saturday because of his work hours. It was tough mentally and physically for him. So why the title of What Makes Me Smile?
Last Sunday, he was off. I smiled.
Yesterday he came home before 5pm. I smiled, again.
He makes me smile.
I can tell the kids missed him because they couldn’t stop talking to him. From the second they saw him at the door, all three kids spewed out details about their day. I stepped back to let them bask in the glory of their dad. It was wonderful. I smiled again.
When reading our bible last night, we came upon a verse that made me stop and think.
2 Corinthians 6:10… We own nothing, and yet we enjoy everything.
We don’t have much. Living off of one income is tough, but the joy and smiles that my family gives me, makes me feel like the queen of the world.
And that, my friend, makes me smile….
