Think sweet. Think sour. Think bitter. Think salty. Now mash that together and add delicious shrimp and you have got Panda Express’s new menu item Five Flavor Shrimp. We visit our local Panda Express often. I mean, how long can you go without the iconic taste of the chow mein. That has to be my favorite menu item. I can literally just visit Panda Express and have a big plate of chow mein. Wow, my mouth watered just writing that!
The Five Flavor Shrimp is a burst of flavor in your mouth! Why? Well, the name says it all! Five flavors are all it takes to make the dish popular. When we arrived the bowl where the FFS usually is, was empty! I asked the gal who worked there how long it will take to make more, she said the dish was already being made. The Five Flavor Shrimp
We got a fresh batch of FFS. I love when that happens! Together with some fried rice and chow mein, you have the perfect lunch or dinner! We went during dinner time and it was great! As far as seafood goes, the kids and I only eat shrimp. I don’t eat anything else. No fish. So this was a pleasant treat.
Five Flavor Shrimp brings together five quality ingredients to create one flavorful dish featuring large premium marinated shrimp, fresh cut red bell peppers, onions and green string beans. Panda chefs wok-toss it to perfection in a Chinese-inspired sauce, to balance sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami notes in one single bite.
Honestly, you don’t even need the rice and noodles, but I cannot have Chinese food without that necessary combo. As you can see they do not skimp on the shrimp. Our plate had an abundance of shrimp in there so you can literally get some shrimp with every bite! By the time we finished our dinner, the chef had to make another batch of FFS. It’s that popular! My husband even took a medium to-go box for his lunch the next day!
The Five Flavor Shrimp has 200 calories per portion and comes in savory, spicy and sweet flavors, accompanied by green beans, chopped red peppers and onions and a delightful sauce. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a meat substitute or if you’re watching out your calorie intake. The Five Flavor Shrimp has 14 grams of protein per portion.
