The 2017 Genesis G80: Let’s Go on a California Road Trip!

This is not a paid post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We were sent a Genesis G80 to test drive for 1 week to facilitate this review.

As you can tell, we love going on road trips. It’s the perfect family weekend getaway to basically anywhere you wish to go. For us, family road trips have been a way for us to drive to places we normally wouldn’t go.  See, when Iife takes over and kids start to have a social life, getting family time becomes very scares.  I love when my little familia is together. I feel complete. I feel satisfied. I feel happy. Even if that means that we’re all stuck in a car, for an X amount of time. We are together. That’s all that matters.

So, if we’re stuck in a car, together, for an X amount of time, might as well be in a luxurious car, right? Check out the 2017 Genesis G80.

I know, right? It’s a beauty. My daughter named her Geny. Get it? Geny? haha!

The G80 is designed to give you the pure thrill of driving. The muscular, 311-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 engine is managed by a refined, 8-speed SHIFTRONIC® transmission, working together seamlessly to make sure you’re as connected to the road as you are to your G80.

Whew! Talk about a powerful car. The 2017 Genesis G80, is by far, the smoothest ride we’ve ever driven. Can it be related to the suspension of the car? I have no idea, but the fact is that the car was amazing to drive. The G80 is designed to give you the incredible thrill of driving. The muscular feel of the car just hugs the road with power. Speaking of power, the G80 has 311-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 engine is managed by a refined, 8-speed SHIFTRONIC® transmission, which you have to try out if you know how to drive stick shift!!! When you hit the open road, that’s when you get a feel for the car.

If you’ve been keeping up with my road trip story, then you know we hit a minor snag when we left. So, here is our story.

We planned to leave for our road trip at 6am. We always leave at that time since we didn’t want to deal with L.A. traffic.  Well, of course, we woke up late and left 2 hours later. Luckily, it was good Friday, so traffic was super light. We made it out of Los Angeles in record time. It was great. Then, I mentioned to my hubby how amazing traffic was and I ended up TOTALLY jinxing ourselves. We hit traffic in Oxnard. Then from Carpinteria all the way to Santa Barbara. Next was San Luis Obispo and finally Atascadero.

I felt like we were driving FOREVER. I even made my husband check the navigation system on the 9.2-inch HD display with split screen allows you to conveniently check navigational information as well as other audio/visual data simultaneously to make sure we were on the 101. It was crazy. Normally our trip up north to visit family takes roughly 5-6 hours. By the time we hit the city of Salinas, we were in our 7th hour. I was tired. remember how happy I was, with my familia, together, in 1 car? Yeah, that was gone. The kids were cranky, then teen wanted this road trip over and my husband and I wanted to drink our sorrows away.

Okay, so it wasn’t that bad.

It was long, but not bad. By the time we reached our destination, I had to check us in at the Embassy Suites Monterey Bay with a hoarse voice. From screaming? No. Well, sort of.

See, the Genesis G80 come with 17 high-performance speakers and lush surround sound. See where I’m going here?

I sang my voice away. I drive, I have full control of the music. It was glorious. I linked my phone to the Bluetooth system of the car and I sang my little heart out until I had no more voice. When we got to the hotel, I spoke with the hotel manager with a smokers voice. HA! I can drive long distance as long as I have my music. With safety features on the G80 like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection and Smart Cruise Control, I knew I can sing at ease and still remain a safe driver.

Once we settled into our hotel, we took the car out for a drive. Monterey is full of lush trees and oh so green hills. Here are some SUPER DUPER cool features:

The Heads-Up display.

I had to use the image from the Genesis official site. When I tried to take a picture, it was super blurry and I just don’t know why it didn’t photograph well. Plus, in order to see it, you have to be driving and well, you know how that goes. But this is what I wanted to show you.

Aside from seeing the speedometer and the digital speedometer, there’s another way to monitor your speed without taking your eyes off the road. Standard vehicle information is conveniently displayed directly on the windshield in front of you. Whaaaaaaat?

Yeah! It’s so cool! It’s literally on the windshield of the car and it’s so awesome to see!

Now, check this out.

Is it the Batman signal? Nope. It’s the Genesis signal. Well, more like the logo. It flashes on, at night, when you unlock the car with your remote. The lights turn on and this is displayed on the ground:
